Greetings and welcome
to the HIS Arts page. Mr. Purushothman (or
Mr. Puru) is the boss at the Art Department,
as a dedicated artist and sportsman himself.
The students come to him three times per
week for 4 weeks to learn about The Visual Arts
(note the capital letters). The year 7's
will be introduced to 2D and
3D concepts, sculpting clay and making paper mache fishes.
They also learn about the basic art theories
(colours, brush strokes, tinting/shading,
positive/negative spaces) and famous art
movements like Impressionism and artists
like Vincent van Gogh. The year 8 curriculum is
a lot
more exciting, beginning with studying
famous artworks/artists, and even converting
famous paintings into a completely different
style. Print-making and woodblock cutting is also available to the
year 8's. There are a lot of different
equipments and tools in the Art Department
for the benefit of the students.
