Welcome to our Room 18 blurb.  This is just a quick note to inform you about what is happening in our class for term 1.  My name is Mrs Alaina Talamahina and I am the teacher in Rm18, which is one of our Samoan bilingual classrooms.  Also known as Tupu Ma Ola.

Our inquiry learning this term is focusing on ‘Cultural Practises’ and/or ‘Cultural Celebrations’. Understanding how we pass on and sustain our cultural heritage. Here are the key questions that we will be answering during our inquiry process.


How do people around the world celebrate in different ways?
How are celebrations  sustained within and across cultures?
What are the different reasons for celebrating?
Where do celebrations originate from?
How is culture and heritage sustained through celebrations?
